Countess Mircalla Karnstein by DionysusPSI Countess Mircalla Karnstein by DionysusPSI
Countess Mircalla Karnstein AKA Carmilla.
Model: Anne P.

From a stageplay 'Carmilla'. About a female vampire. Based on the novel by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu (1872, predates Dracula).

Taken in prelude to a production of Carmilla. I really like this photo, alot more than many that I've taken for quite some time. (Most of which I don't really feel like posting at all).

Edits: This version of the photo is taken from a JPEG export of the un-tweaked RAW from my OLYMPUS E-500.

In photoshop I then applied curves, a photo filter, and edited out her bra and a marker mark from the back of her hand all before taking out the background.

Natural Light, the Houselights in the Livery Theatre.

This was taken during a pre-production photo shoot for promotional material and to produce "THE PAINTING" featured in the story. We shot with 3 different pieces of wardrobe and two photographers. The shot used for the painting was in different wardrobe and taken by the other photographer. this one was used for promotional purposes. The wardrobe as shown here was not used in the show.

The author has written both a ONE ACT and TWO ACT (un-produced) version.

This is the most perfect representation of Carmilla I've ever seen! This is the image that the book tells me. The languid appearance of innocence and sadness, just as Sheridan Le Fanu description. I fell in love with her (even more).

Anne did a great job in both this photo session and in the production portraying Carmilla. The Character is quite different from her own personality, so NOT type-cast in any way.
I wish I had a copy of the video we shot of the show right now.

It was a Great production, when it's produced again I doubt whoever we cast will do as good a job...

The actress Anne, will NOT be available, she is GOING PLACES.

Got the book today and DEVOURED it already.
I like to think that, in the end, Carmilla (Millarca, Mircalla) survived and just moved to another region.
Saving humanity my ass!

'Heard that they'll make a movie adaptation in 2011... Hope it's a GOOD one...

There is looking to be an excellent adaptation titled STYRIA. It finished filming in Hungary in November and is now in post production, starring Stephen Rhea ("Interview With the Vampire" "The Crying Game") and Eleanor Tomlinson ("Alice in Wonderland").

My friend who wrote and directed this ONE ACT version, has also written a Full-Length Two-Act version. Which we are currently discussing producing next spring or summer.
I am VERY excited. I hope we find an excellent Carmilla.

I have written a one act version as well.  Its fourth production will be in Delaware this October.  I'd love to hear about your friend's adaptation!
